Dear Private Secretary,

Mr. Harold Macmillan is away for a short time during the Parliamentary recess, but the enclosed correspondence from Inspector J. Shepherd of the Hong Kong Police Force reached him just before he left, and he has asked me to send it to you.

The correspondence deals with grievances of the Pre-War Officers of the Hong Kong Police Force and apparently communications on the subject have already been adaressed to the Colonial Secretary.

Mr. Macmillan would be very much obliged if this correspondence could be submitted to the Minister. He would be grateful ir he could be informed of any action which is being taken to deal with the grievance.
